Debbie Jones worked as a journalist, and has degrees in English and Psychology. She worked for World Vision and Lifeline, and was a co-founder of HeartWork, a prisoner rehabilitation programme.
Debbie Jones has worked as a journalist with local newspapers and with World Vision magazine in her early career. She holds a BA degree in English and Psychology, and an Honours degree in Psychology. She has always found people intriguing, and has loved trying to understand what drives and motivates them, as well as identifying her own complexities and working on them. She cares deeply for people who are suffering, and this has inspired and directed many of her endeavours. She was a co-founder of HeartWork, a rehabilitation programme for prisoners, and she also spent a number of years volunteering with Lifeline.
Debbie was born in Germiston in 1961. A difficult few years in early childhood left their scars. Fear and anxiety have plagued her, but equal amounts of courage and tenacity have led to a life of deep fulfilment and meaning.
She walks with her husband almost every morning, and tries to find something beautiful to photograph on every outing. Photography has become an essential part of daily life. She also enjoys creative writing, and loves deep conversations. She is married, and loves spending time with her two children and three grandchildren.
